The airport is one place where we hang out quite a lot with the kids.
It's also one of Caleb's favourite place to visit. I think he likes the airport because:1) It has got aircon
2) There's a water fountain at T3 to look at (somehow kids are always fascinated with water fountains)
3) There's a playground at T3
4) There's the skytrain
5) The foodcourt at T3 is next to Popeye's and there's a TV screening the cartoon all the time
6) There's lot of space for him to run around
7) During festive seasons, they put up nice decorations for him to pose and take photos with
Isn't that a lot of reasons why he would like to go to the airport?
So in Dec, during days that we can't think of where to go with the kids, and we don't want to go too far and fight with the crowds, we bring them to the airport. This year the Xmas decoration that was featured is this huge Xmas ball.
There are performances at 30min intervals and when the performance starts, the ball would open up and start playing christmas carols. There are also tracks round the huge ball and many little balls would be released and roll down the tracks as the music is being played. There's actually some games that we can participate in but we didn't coz it's for children 5yrs and above so we just stood around to watch and listen to the music.
The attraction that the children were really excited about at the airport this month, was this huge bouncing castle about 2 storeys high. They call it The Big Snow Fantasy. Other than the huge slide, the kids can bounce around and there's a ball pit in the middle as well. The slide is actually meant for children 8 years old and above and the ball pit has a minimum age requirement of 4 years and above. However, the organisers were very slack about it and so, both my kids got to enjoy the ball pit and the slide. The great part about this is that it's free but the downside to it is that since it's free, there's a long queue of people waiting to get in. The organisers let in the kids in in batches and each batch of kids get 15min of play time so if there's a lot of people queuing, potentially it could be at least half and hour to 45mins of waiting time for 15min of play.
When we first discovered this bouncing castle, we saw that the queue was very long so we decided to just walk around and take some photos. But we made plans to come back on a week day afternoon when the queue's shorter.
Here's some of the photos which we took whilst walking around.
A week later, we came again on a weekday. We were surprised to see that there was still a queue but not as long as during the weekend so we joined in the queue. Anyway, I think the kids will be very disappointed if we gave the bouncing castle a miss again.

Sarah starting to get bored
Me and ND...bored and trying to entertain ourselves
When it was about our turn to get into the bouncing castle, the organisers would gather all the children and they had this tall, big build Indian guy with a big, loud voice issuing all the rules. ND couldn't help taking a photo of him coz we could tell that he tried to instill some fear factor into the kids when he was issuing out the rules. We could hear him telling the kids stuff like "If I catch anybody pushing or not obeying the rules, I'm going to take him out...blah blah blah" The oldest kids were at most primary school age so I think they all looked quite intimidated by him.
Finally, the kids got to get onto the bouncing castle. Caleb as usual was very cautious, and kept holding on to the rungs at the side of the slide to climb to the top. And as he cautiously made his way up, we could see the other kids just zooming past him and climbing very quickly to the top. I think it took him like 10min before he warmed up and decided it's actually quite safe and go a bit faster. Sarah on the other hand just needed to be helped up the slide once. After that, that girl was just rearing to go on her own. I was quite surprised coz the slide is really very high. Even I felt a bit nervous about it. I thought she would be scared but I think I was wrong. There wasn't much of a hint of fear in her as she went up and down the slides on her own.
Having fun in the ball pit.
All in all the kids had a lot of fun at this boucing castle. We thought we would come again but somehow our Dec hols was so packed with activities that we didn't get a chance to bring the kids here again before they took down the castle.
