Over the weekend, we brought Caleb to take a ride on the MRT. We've been wanting to do that for a long time but just didn't get down to doing it. Ya the things parents do for their children. All of a sudden, going on the MRT is like an adventure. It sure was for our boy. Many many months ago, Grandma and Grandpa attempted to bring him on the MRT coz he always talked about the MRT whenever he saw the tracks or the train go by when we're in our car. He was really enthusiastic until they brought him into the station and then he refused to get into the train. He said it was too loud and was afraid to get in. So they spent like half an hour just sitting at the platform, watching trains come and go.
Well, on Sunday, I asked him again whether he was ready to go take the MRT with us. I took a video of him before we left. See how upbeat and excited he was.
We drove to Tanah Merah, parked our car and took a train to the airport so that we could have dinner there and bring him to watch aeroplanes after that. It was only 2 stops away but we thought we shall not be so adventurous for a start. And if he gets frightened, we can make a fast escape out of the train.
True to his words, he was brave enough to get on the train. The train to the airport was quite empty so we had a whole cabin to ourselves. Caleb had this very thrilled looked when we first got on the train. See how he turned to grab Daddy when the train buzzer went off to indicate that the doors were closing. Daddy tried to encourage him to stand and look out of the window but he clung onto to Daddy and sat on his lap instead.
Here's a more curious but still pretty apprehensive looking Caleb. He kept looking around coz everything looked new to him. We sat in the last cabin. He got a little more settled in his train ride after a while and started asking us where the train driver was. Then he started asking us why the train driver was going backwards and kept commenting that the train was going so fast.
Well, at the end of the train ride, I think it was definitely a positive experience for him coz he told us he wanted to go again. Back home, I showed him the video that I took of him in the train and he said "Look, Caleb in the MRT! And I didn't cry coz I'm a brave boy."
