Our Weekend - Part 1

This is how we spent our weekend. We didn't do anything particularly exciting, we didn't go to anywhere really new, but we did spend a lot of time together just hanging out and feeling each other's presence and I thought that the time that we spent together was really precious. And I do hope that it gets added on to our children's growing up memories as good, family fun.

On Saturday morning, we invited ourselves to Sarah's Godma Joy's new house. Though Joy wasn't available to entertain us, her mum, Wendy was. And being the very excellent host that she was, she not only showed us around the house, she fed us well too. Caleb, Sarah and Sophia entertained themselves and tested out the house to make sure it was child proof, whilst ND and me lazed around and chit chat with Wendy. It was a nice, relaxing way to spend our morning. Our whole family always enjoy our visits to Joy's house coz there's always lots of delicious food and good company. Caleb in particular would always request to eat Wendy's special shepherd's pie and more often than not, when we give sufficient notice, there's one waiting for him when we arrive at their house.

After eating our fill for lunch, we went home to take our afternoon nap before embarking on our late afternoon activity. We read in the papers that there's a HFMD epidemic so we decided that the safest thing to do was to go to the open field at Seng Kang to fly kite. There's lots of open space and fresh air there and we figured, if we brought our own stuff like our mat, kite and ball, surely the chances of catching HFMD would be very low.

Here we are at the field. All geared up with kite and ball.

There was very little wind when we first arrived and so we took quite a while to get the kite up. Caleb was very eager to help ND and after many attempts, (and more wind) the boys finally got their kite up.

I like this shot of them flying the kite together. It's the kind of father and son photo that warms my heart.

Sarah was more interested in playing ball and went around hoarding the ball for a while.

The boys did take a break from flying kite after a while to play ball with Sarah.
ND training up his Liverpool players.

ND teaching Sarah how to throw the ball.

Tired out from all that running, throwing and kicking...

Me on the other hand was happily seated on my portable chair just watching the kids and ND and keeping an eye on Sophia, who was seated on her new throne.
Sophia has been extremely resistant towards her bassinet seat so since she's now bigger, we decided to let her try out sitting on Sarah's carseat. She definitely took to it much better than the bassinet, so much so that we carried the whole car seat out and just plonked her onto the picnic mat so that she could watch her Daddy, kor kor and che che too.
OK, she doesn't look very happy here, but at least she's not crying. (When I last tried to get her to stay in her bassinet seat, she actually cried and screamed so much that she gagged on her saliva and vomited in the car...yah, she can be quite a terror...)

Here's Korkor keeping Sophia company for a while.

Me and my little brood...

We ended our little outing with dinner at Jalan Kayu, eating at the famous prata shop. It was a treat for the kids coz they like to eat prata. No photos of dinner coz we were all too busy eating!
