The Challenge

The challenge has been issued! Every year, around this time, I'll ask Caleb what kind of cake he would like to have for his birthday and after much pondering, he'll decide on his cake for the year. For his first birthday, I decided for him coz he was obviously too young to make any decision and he got a Noah's Ark cake.
When he was 2, he had a Mickey Mouse cake and Yeeyee bought him a plain chocolate cake and decorated it with a real train . That was the start of Yeeyee's yearly challenges.

That's Caleb's train cake complete with decorations.

For his 3rd birthday, he got a little more sophisticated and decided that he wanted a red Ferrari car cake.
So Yeeyee had a couple of sleepless nights and some white hair and she came up with this impressive strawberry freshcream cake.

Last year, he was very, very into army stuff so naturally he asked Yeeyee for an army cake.
Again, Yeeyee exceeded expectations with this army battlefield tiramisu cake. The actual cake had alcohol in it and the kids had non-alcoholic tiramisu cups. She even superimposed Caleb's photo such that there was a photo of him in army uniform, giving a salute on one of the tiramisu cups.

Yeeyee also baked a blackforest fireman's cake for Caleb for him to bring to school to celebrate with his friends. The cake came complete with a tower that's on fire, little teddies stuck in the tower and a fire engine. Caleb's teachers were very impressed and asked us which shop we bought the cake from.

This year, when I asked him what kind of cake he'll like to have to bring to school.
He gave me 5 options:
1) Imagination Movers cake
2) Mickey Mouse cake
3) Little Einstein cake
4) Roller coaster cake
5) Dinosaurs cake

I asked him to think about which cake he would really want to have and after some thought, he said he'll like to have a dinosaur cake since he's learning about dinosaurs in school. He usually changes his mind a couple of times before confirming on his choice so a couple of days later, I checked back with him and again he said dinosaur cake. Then he gave further details.
He wants a cake with a T-Rex chasing the long neck Brontosaurus on the cake. And then I asked him what kind of cake flavour would he like to have. His first choice was Pear cake (his favourite fruit), followed by Orange cake, then grape cake and then chocolate cake. I tried to dissuade him about having a pear, orange or grape cake coz I told him people don't usually have cakes in those flavours. Sometimes, we have chocolate cakes. Then he said, ya, the chocolate is on top right. It's for the mud so that the dinosaurs can step on them.

So, OK, Yeeyee, the challenge has been issued. Now, please impress us once again.

(Haha, so easy for this Mummy to just talk, talk, talk and then just wait to see the cake and eat it.
It's great to have a sis who can bake and save me all the headaches of buying nice and impressive cakes! Thanks che!)
