Mr PR

Once again, Caleb has shown that he can be quite PR when he wants to. He came home from school last week and told me that his classmate Ian En, gave him a packet of gummies. He asked me for permission to eat it and I told him that he will have to wait till Daddy comes home from work and ask him instead. The reason why I said that is because Caleb is going through a phase of not wanting to brush his teeth. We have tried reasoning with him and telling him that he has to learn to take care of his teeth so that he can eat food that he likes, like gummies, biscuits and ice cream. If he doesn't take care of his teeth, they might decay and fall off.
Well, the day before he brought the gummies home, he had eaten some ice cream and refused to brush his teeth after that and Daddy had told him that then he shouldn't eat any more ice cream or gummies so I thought I shouldn't overwrite Daddy's decision right?
So anyway, Caleb started off just holding the packet of gummies and bringing it along with him everywhere he went. Later in the afternoon, after he woke up from his nap, this is what he said to me...

Caleb: (holding on to gummies and looking at them) Mummy, where's Daddy?
Mummy: Working
Caleb: Why? I want Daddy to come home early.
Mummy: Why Caleb?
Caleb: (still staring hard at the gummies) because... because I love him...

Ya, and I thought in my mind... win already la... like that Daddy sure let him eat his gummies. When I told Daddy about our conversation, he couldn't stop laughing and obviously the boy won Daddy's heart and got to eat his gummies!

And that's not just a once off incident. Somedays he'll just come up to me and say "oh, Mummy, you're so pretty." Or he'll just give me a hug out of the blue and say "Mummy I love you" and he'll give me a big, wide smile. At moments like these, we usually find it really hard not to give him what he asks for after that, especially when he asks in a very nice way complete with "please" and "thank you".
