Singing Caleb

OK, a proper update. Want to know what Caleb's up to these days? Well, he's into SINGING! From time to time, he'll just start singing a verse or attempt to sing a song that he's familiar with. Well, before you set your expectations really high, I must clarify that he's only 21 months old so obviously he can't catch the whole song and he sings out of tune! Sometimes he drops a lot of the lyrics, other times, he creates his own twist to the song by adding in his own lyrics or singing some gibberish to fill in the gaps. But good enough for Mummy to figure out which song he's singing.
Top on the list for this week is Baa Baa Black sheep and Humpty Dumpty. I attempted to make a video of him singing these two songs. Not the perfect take but good enough for memories sake. He's better when he spontaneously sings them on his own.

And for all you mothers out there who want your kids to aspire to be the next Spore idol, you can buy them nursery rhymes CDs to sing-a-long. We bought Caleb a couple of CDs to play in the car. He used to want us to sing to him non-stop so we figured we'll enjoy car rides more if we got somebody else to sing to him. I didn't think much about the songs and after listening to them for a zillion times, I'm kinda desensitized to the lyrics. But I realised that even though we're kinda "immuned" to the lyrics, Caleb is always listening intently to them. One of the songs in the CDs sings about a teddy bear going to sleep. Every time Caleb hears it, he'll started demanding he wants his teddy bear. And he seems so 'absorbed' with the songs that he can tell us what song it is just by listening to the intro of the song. He'll say "this cat song" or "this hallelujah song" and me and Daddy will be unsure for a moment until we hear the lyrics, and then we'll be amazed at how well he can identify the songs. Honestly, half the time, we're not as accurate as him!

Here's Caleb singing Baa Baa Black Sheep. You got to turn up your speakers to hear him properly.

And here's Humpty Dumpty with prompting from Mummy.
