For the first time today, Caleb successfully pooed into his potty. We have been slowly working on toilet training him. Eversince he started becoming more vocal in his speech, we introduced the words "poo poo" and "wee wee" to him. So every time he poo and we need to change his diaper, we'll tell him, "Caleb poo poo, so must change diaper". And he'll follow us and say "poo poo". It's easier to teach him about his poop since it's "big business" and more obvious to him. We'll just ask him from time to time whether he "wee wee" or when we need to go to the toilet, we'll just tell him that we need to "wee wee" so hopefully he'll get the idea.
Anyhow, we progressed to telling him that he should tell us whenever he needs to poo. Over the last month or so, about 80% of the time, he'll say "poo poo" when he is doing his big business or after he is done with it.
Last night, Mummy finally took out Caleb's potty, took it to the toilet and showed it to Caleb. Mummy told Caleb that when he wants to poo, he should come and sit on his potty in the toilet. Caleb was quite excited about the potty coz it's something new and he said he wanted to "wee wee". We had to carry him to let him stand on top of the potty to wee wee coz he's too short to aim into the hole but unfortunately, after hanging around for 5min, there was nothing.
This morning, when Caleb woke up, the first thing that he told Mummy was "poo poo". Immediately, Mummy sprang into action and got the little boy to sit on the potty. Mummy had to encourage him to keep sitting on the potty and wait patiently coz it took a little while for Caleb to get over his excitement of this new "toy" and settle down to do his deed. Well, the boy was good and he started making his "poo poo" face after 5min. Mummy gave him a big cheer after that and told him "good job!". Apparently Caleb was very pleased with himself too and raised his index finger to indicate "good" and said "good jhop" (recently if Mummy praises him by telling him that he has done a good job, he would sign "good" with his fingers and repeat after Mummy)
Well, he did stare hard at his poo after that though when Mummy showed him his achievement. Actually I think it's the first time that he's seeing his poo up close and personal.
Sorry, there's no photos for this coz Mummy decided not to gross any of you out with the sight of Caleb's poop. And if I start taking photos of Caleb sitting on his potty, I don't think he'll be able to concentrate on doing his deed.
