When we first brought Sarah home, she was a sleepy little girl, choosing to sleep most of the time. However, over the last two weeks, she's starting to be awake more often and for longer stretches of time. She's also started to hone her "inbuilt cot detector". When we carry her in our arms, she'll happily fall asleep and the minute we try to put her down in her cot, her "detector" will go off and she'll immediately open her eyes to stare at us and if ignored... she'll start her "alarm system". I'm still figuring out how I can train her to sleep in her cot. I contemplated letting her cry it out but it's especially difficult to do so at night coz she's got such good lungs that if I let her cry it out, she'll disturb Caleb's sleep so... I'm still undecided how we should manage her sleeping habits.
And with most newborn babies who can't differentiate night and day, Sarah's longest waking hour starts from 8.30pm onwards till midnight. Daddy calls this her "wayang" time coz she just wants to be carried, drink lots of milk and be burped all the time. Imagine doing that for an average of 4 hours a night! Well, it was especially tiring for us during the first two weeks but I think she's starting to settle down. She has been kinder to me the last two weeks and took a shorter time for me to get her to sleep. She's starting to sleep for longer stretches of time now and wakes up once or twice every night to drink milk. Hopefully she'll progress to sleeping through the night.
And for those of you who have not seen Sarah, here's a few pix of her. I wish I had more pix to share but my photography skills are not up to mark and I ended up with lots of "blur" photos of her (actually it's coz I'm sleep deprived...) and Daddy is away these two weeks on reservist so he isn't around to capture Sarah's kodak moments. So here's the photos that we have, hopefully there'll be more to come when Daddy comes home.
Sarah sleeping soundly... (btw, she really looks like Caleb here.)
See what a sweet smile she has...
That's the signature frown that runs in the Lee family.
