Legoland

More updates on our US trip. So, we were on a themepark holiday. After 2 full days at Disneyland, we headed further south towards Carlsbad and went to Legoland. We realised it was just in between LA and San Diego, and we thought that Caleb would enjoy himself there since he loves playing with Lego, so off we went.

I would say that if Caleb's between 3 to 9 y ears old, he would LOVE Legoland. It's quite a pleasant place to go at a leisure pace actually. The themepark is definitely not as big as Disneyland and we didn't have to fight with any crowd to get on rides. There were more rides catered for toddlers as compared to Disneyland. The only unfortunate thing for us was that most of the rides had height restrictions and age restrictions. Most rides required the child to be at least 3 years old to get on the rides. And for height restrictions, Caleb, being not a very tall kid by American standards, obviously didn't qualify for most of them.
Regardless of that, the themepark is not all about rides, there were many other areas that Caleb enjoyed himself at.

The first place that we headed for was this room that was filled with Lego of different sizes. Toddlers could spend as much time as they want playing with the blocks, some of which were almost half their size. Actually, they also had areas where you could build model cars, complete with motors. You get to test them on ramps to see how fast they can run. I thought that was quite cool but obviously it was way beyond Caleb.

Dora the Explorer is Caleb's current favourite character. He was really excited to take a photo with her.

Later on, we went on a boat ride which brought us down this river scattered with famous landmarks all made out of lego bricks.

There was also a display area of "little worlds". They had famous buildings, places and hotels. These came complete with motorised trains that travelled round the buildings, animals and people with sound and visual effects. Quite entertaining to watch.

There was also an interactive waterplay area where children could activate buttons and switches and water would shoot out of the lego displays. Caleb had quite a bit of fun with this.

There was this helicopter ride which he really, really wanted to get on. It looked quite safe to me but as usual, we were barred from the ride coz he was not tall enough.

In the end, we had to satisfy him by sitting on a similar helicopter that was stationery.

His favourite play in Legoland was the Duplo Playtown. It's a playground catered for toddlers his age. There were slides, play houses, cars, fire engines, and a small maze. There was even a miniature train for toddlers to sit in. The best part of it all was there was NO QUEUE! I think we went on the train ride at least 4 times.
