Sophia Turns 1 Month

Today Sophia turns 1 month old. So what has my little one been up to? Well, as with all new born, she spends her time drinking milk (frantically), doing lots of pooping and sleeping.

When we first brought her home from the hospital, she "initiated" us for 10 days! Yup, for 10 whole days, I only got to sleep at 4am in the morning coz she got her day and night all mixed up. She'll start sleeping pretty soundly from 7am and she'll do the usual routine of drinking milk, poop, sleep till about 8pm. Then the "takan" session would start.

She'll drink milk non-stop (you can interpret that as she was perpetually stuck to me). Then when she takes a breather, she'll start wailing to be carried and walked around the house. Sure, I could let her cry it out but it didn't quite work out coz she's really loud. ND says she has got no volume control. Only got "on" and "off" and her cries just start at maximum volume. That very first night home, Caleb and Sarah went to bed close to 11pm coz each time they were going to fall asleep, Sophia would start wailing and they'll be woken up. Caleb was rolling around his bed with his pillow covering his ears and he kept saying,"Baby Sophia is so loud." And Sarah would keep jumping out of her bed, point to Sophia and keep announcing to us, "Baby Sophia cry". In the end, we decided that ND would stay in the room and put Caleb and Sarah to bed while I go to the living room to try to pacify Sophia. That night, I ended up staying in the living room till 4am. She slept intermittently in my arms, drank milk, and wailed (loudly).

ND got woken up by her loud cries at 4am and he came to relieve me and he spent the next 2 hours sleeping on the sofa with Sophia in his arms. So, that went on for about 10 days. In between, we had one or two slightly better nights but I am thankful, eventually she got round to switching to our timing so I started to get a bit more rest. And she started to nurse better so we're doing ok now. I think if not for the training that I had with Caleb and Sarah, I'll probably go mad after a few days. Haha, not that they were bad. Sophia actually reminds me of Caleb in terms of her behaviour. Caleb also initiated us in a similar way when we brought him home for the 1st day. But he only did that for 1 day while Sophia went on for 10 days. And Caleb was also always nursing and pooping.

I would say Sarah was the easiest baby of the 3. She drank milk at 3hr intervals. She slept easily and she pooped only on alternate days so she saved us tons of diaper money.. heehee... And though she was capable of being as loud as Sophia, she hardly escalated to that volume. Majority of the time, she gave out gentle cries that could barely be heard.

Anyway, back to my dear Sophia. She's more settled now and she's busy putting on weight. Over this past week, we can actually feel that she's gotten heavier and she's starting to outgrow some of the clothes that were loose on her when she first came home. In terms of her temperament, we haven't quite figured her out yet but from her loud cries and all, we think she's not going to be quiet like Sarah. She seems to be an in between of Caleb and Sarah. Loud like Caleb and fiesty like Sarah. Hmm, sounds like a lethal combination... haha, I wonder how Caleb's going to control his two feisty little sisters.

And finally, more photos of my little one...
