Here's the kids all dressed up before we left for the dinner. They were both dressed so nicely that I couldn't resist getting them to pose for a couple of shots for me. And I really like the photos that I took!
Actually it wasn't just me who was excited about taking the photos, the kids themselves were very excited about seeing the shots that I took and after each photo, they'll bug me to show them.
Here's my 3 preciousss at the dinner
There were flags laid out for every seat at the table and naturally the kids were drawn to them and took them to entertain themselves.
And here's a rare shot of me and ND taken by Caleb. Quite nicely taken huh!
Sarah and Grandma
Sarah was a total different creature this time round as compared to last year. Last year when we came, she was about 7 months old and barely aware of her surroundings and really just a tiny babe.
Sarah a year ago with ND.
See how she has blossomed!
This year, she was not only feasting...
and drinking... on her own...
She was also extremely intrigued with all the live performances on stage. The first performance was this modern chinese dance performed by a few girls from the Kreta Ayer CC dance troupe and she couldn't take her eyes off them. She was watching their every move very intensely and when they finished their performance and left the stage, she kept asking me," che che... where? where?"
We were really surprised by her interest in live performances coz my girl is not someone who's interested in watching TV. I've put her in front of the TV many times but she's just not interested. She wouldn't sit still to watch the TV for more than 10min before she'll wander off to do other stuff. With the live performances, she couldn't take her eyes off all these people in fancy costumes dancing around on stage.
Caleb on the other hand, had never really been interested in the live performances from the previous years and we were thinking that perhaps he was too young in the past to appreciate such performances. This year, however, he started to be more interested in what's happening on stage.
Ok, I shouldn't compare since they both have very different personalities but it was a very interesting observation for me.
Well, back to the dinner... There were other performances put up by various groups at the CC. There were malay dances, indian dances, and chinese wushu. There was a particular performance by this china guy who wore a face mask and he could change his mask multiple times with a turn of his face or a wave of his hand. I think it took him less than a second. That was the only performance that we thought was really good. The rest were kinda so-so. Anyway, since the food and performances were pretty average this time round, we made the wise choice of leaving early to avoid the jam. There were like 900 people in the ballroom and only 2 small lifts to the carpark so, you can imagine if we waited till the end of the dinner, how long it would take for us to get out.
All in all, I think that night, it was the phototaking that we enjoyed the most.
Hopefully, next year's dinner would be more interesting!
