So, after cracking our brains for a while, ND remembered that there was this open field opposite the Sengkang swimming complex that was very spacious and he had seen people flying kites there in the past. Though we've never been there before, we decided to be adventurous and make a trip there to check out the place.
I brought along our picnic mats, a ball and this toy helicopter that Caleb got as a present but hadn't the chance to try out.
When we drove to the open field, we saw that there seemed to be quite a lot of activitives going on there. There were cars parked alongside the entire field. Lots of people were there flying kites of different designs and sizes. There was a huge tentage set up in the middle of the field with music blasting away. Apparently there was a national frisbee competition going on.
We saw that there was macdonald's just opposite the field so we did a drive thru, parked our car along the field as well and found a nice spot for ourselves. We were near enough to enjoy the music from the tentage and also watch the people nearby fly kites. The field was really spacious so, though it was buzzing with activity, there were still lots of space for the kids to run around.
The kids were very excited when we first got out of the car.
They were extremely fascinated with all the kites.
The sky littered with kites. There was a very good breeze that day and the kites were all soaring. There were actually people selling kites from mini vans at the side of the field. We wanted to go check it out to see if we could buy a kite for the kids before leaving but didn't manage to in the end. Maybe the next time round.

Caleb with his toy helicopter. It's quite a cool toy actually. It comes with this gadget with a retractable string for you to pull and release. Upon releasing it, the helicopter will fly quite high up into the air for a while before landing down again. ND and Caleb really enjoyed playing with it.
The helicopter also comes with this really cool pair of shades.
Caleb reminds me of the comics character Calvin, in Calvin and Hobbes in this picture.

The princess taking a breather but unfortunately her "bed" is not very well padded so not very comfortable for her.
Our picnic spread after all the workout that the kids had
We had a great time here coz it wasn't too crowded. The place was nice and windy. The kids had lots of space to run freely, and best of all, it was free! This is another place that we'll come back to when we need to tire the kids out again!
